On 14th December we held our Christmas services at St Nicholas’ Church. Children from Years 2, 4, 5 and 6 told us all about some of the symbols we use at Christmas and what they can remind us of: the evergreen tree for everlasting life; decorations for God’s blessings; holly for Jesus’ blood, shed for us; bells to guide us to the Shepherd, gifts to remember the wise men; Christmas candles to remind us that we are the light in the world; angels to remember God’s messenger and the star to guide us to Jesus (as the wise men were guided). The children read eloquently, the choir sang ‘The Sussex Carol’ beautifully and Jess was spellbinding with ‘Away in a Manger’ on the keyboard. We are so blessed to have such talented children at our school. Thank you to Father Philip for his talks in each service, reminding us to look out for the Nativity icon around the village, to Mr Leah for his infamous jokes and to Mr Baum for accompanying all our singing on the keyboard.
