On 3rd June, 51 of our Year Six pupils travelled to PGL in Lincolnshire for a week of outdoor adventure. Activities included: high ropes, climbing, giant swing, rifles, archery and fencing. It was wonderful to watch so many children conquer their fears and grow in confidence throughout the week. A huge thank you to the children and the staff for making the week such a great success. Thank you also to everyone who was able to come and watch the photo slideshow on 14th June. Please do not forget to download your copy of this before the end of the school year.
11.04am We have arrived at Belton House after a very straightforward journey. The weather is glorious and everyone is in high spirits. We are going for a walk around the grounds before we have our lunch. We should be at PGL at about 2:30pm.
2.30pm Everyone had a great time exploring the maze. A couple of members of the public have commented on how lovely our children are for playing with and encouraging their little ones in the adventure playground. What a brilliant start to our trip! We have just arrived at PGL. We are going to put our luggage in our rooms and go for a tour of the grounds.
5.30pm All of the children have found out their roommates and activity groups for the week. After a tour of the site, we have played games on the field. We are off to dinner at 18:20. Looking forward to camp fire and marshmallows tonight.
9.00pm Dinner was delicious - fish fingers or chicken tikka. The children enjoyed learning new songs at the campfire and toasting a giant marshmallow. We are about to get ready for bed. It has been a fantastic first day - looking forward to our first set of activities tomorrow. Goodnight
8.30am Good morning. Everyone has had a good breakfast and is ready for their first activity. We have 5 groups doing lots of different sessions this morning including: high ropes, climbing, zip wire, survivor and archery. It should be an excellent morning.
1.45pm So many of our children achieved a huge amount this morning. It was a privilege to see them overcoming their fears, particularly on the high ropes and climbing sessions. This afternoon, we have groups raft building and climbing the trapeze. It promises to be another exciting session. We have done so much already and we haven’t been here for 24 hours yet.
9.40pm The children have been exploring the whole site this evening playing passport to the world. It was a really fun and active evening. Everyone is exhausted and tucked up in bed ready for sleep. Goodnight
8.15am Good morning. We think most of the children were asleep within 2 minutes of lights out last night. They were exhausted. It is a beautiful day in Lincolnshire today. We are having our breakfast and then getting ready for our activities. The children are having a brilliant time.
1.00pm What a fantastic morning of activities. The children have really benefitted from a good night’s sleep. It has been a pleasure to watch our children support and encourage each other today. The boys raft in group 3 collapsed this morning so the girls offered the boys the chance to use theirs. Brilliant teamwork. Off to lunch now.
5.00pm Our children have excelled themselves today. The school staff have been so impressed with their positive attitudes and the way they are pushing themselves. We had groups climbing, rifle shooting and taking on the trapeze this afternoon. Everyone is taking part and trying their best. Our PGL group leader has told us how brilliant our children have been so far this week. It is absolutely true. Dinner time soon before our evening entertainment.
8.45pm The children have been taking part in 'wacky races' as their evening entertainment tonight. It has been lovely to watch them laughing with each other and having a fun time. They have been full of energy and enthusiasm all day. We are going to be getting ready for bed soon after a drink and a biscuit. Goodnight
8.15am Good morning. Everyone slept really well again. We are just having our breakfast before our morning activities start. This morning, most groups have fencing and the sensory trail. The weather has been very kind to us so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way until tomorrow.
12.25pm The sun has been out all morning and the children are in high spirits. Our group leader, Shi, has told me today that Fleckney are the nicest group of children that she has taught this season. They are fun, energetic and they always listen well to instructions. She hasn’t had a cross word with them all week. We never get tired of hearing lovely things about these children. Off to lunch after an excellent morning.
5.05pm Great teamwork on Jacob’s ladder this afternoon - one of the most challenging activities at PGL. I think it’s fair to say that the girls are showing the boys how it’s done! Everyone is excited about spending their £5 in the shop this evening before we play PGL Cluedo.
7.15am Good morning. Everyone is up and packed. We are leaving our rooms for the final time in about an hour. The children are looking forward to their final two activities.
12.30pm Our final activities this morning were great fun. The children on the vertical challenge did a fantastic job of climbing. We are having lunch at 1pm and then loading the coach. We are planning to leave at 2:15, arriving in Fleckney at 4pm. See you later.
2.15pm We have said goodbye to our excellent group leaders. They have made it a brilliant week for our children. The coach has just left Caythorpe Court and we are on schedule to arrive back at 4pm.
