Arrival

Procedure for bringing your child to school in a morning:

Please ensure that your child is in the playground ten minutes before school begins, i.e. 8.50 a.m.  We regret that staff are not available to supervise children on school premises before 8.50 a.m. as they are involved in classroom preparation and meetings at that time. A whistle will be blown at 8.55 a.m. to summon children into school.  In the interests of safety, late-comers should be delivered to the school office by their parents as the side gates are then locked to enhance site security.

Illness

If your child has been ill overnight please inform a member of staff.

If your child is ill in the morning and unfit for school:
Please telephone the school office on 0116 2402288 by 9.30am to let us know that your child will not be in school; you are able to leave a message on the school ansaphone.

Government's guidance for the recommended period to keep your child away from school following sickness or diarrhoea is 48 hours. More details can be found here Government guidance for return to school after absence due to sickness

Collection

Procedure for collecting your child from school:
At the beginning of the school day can you please let us know if your child is going home with another parent or adult that we don’t know. We understand that parents occasionally have to make alternative arrangements for school pick up during the day and ask that we are informed by telephone before 3.00pm. This enables us to ensure all messages are passed through to classrooms in time for your child being dismissed.

If your child is not collected at home time:
School will telephone the first contact person to ascertain who should be collecting your child.  If there is no reply, subsequent contact persons will be contacted.  The child will be kept at school until collected.

If you will be delayed, a telephone call to school (0116 2402288) to explain this would be appreciated.

Bad Weather Arrangements

In exceptional circumstances we may need to close the school early due to bad weather and will need all children to be collected by an adult.  In this instance we would send an urgent text message via Parentmail asking you to arrange for your child to be collected as soon as possible.  Please ensure that you make provision for your child to be collected if you are not normally in Fleckney during the day.

If the decision is made to close the school, due to heavy snowfall overnight, we will text all parents using the Parentmail text messaging facility.

Please ensure that you register your mobile number on the Parentmail website pmx.parentmail.co.uk to ensure that you receive text messages from the school and that you update your Parentmail account if you change your mobile number.  Our school website will be updated to show the closure.  We will also notify Radio Leicester (104.9FM) so, as a last resort, please listen to their school closures or check their website.  Please be aware that it may take some time for Radio Leicester to update the details they hold.
